The Deadwood Archive– ISTD

 

Visual identity on the project that was answering the brief ‘The Dead Wood Archive’ from ISTD ( International Society of Typographic Designers). We were asked to use our date of birth to generate a Dewey number. The generated number was then used to find a book closest to our dewy number and celebrate it in the manner we see fit, this was asked in the brief for us to do. This design celebrates a book called Afro– Caribbean Religions by  Brian Gates. This history book solely speaks about slavery and the colonisation of Africa and the Caribbean region by Europeans. This leads the book to explain religious movements like Rastafarianism. Each section of text and images are coded into different meaningful colours of the Rastafarians. The concertina is in the chapter in which quotes from an interview with a Rastafarian are presented. The book format allows the layout, images and text to be dynamic and represents the journey

of the book.
